The hardest song ever that I've written to date. My Mom passed away in December 2013 (another reason and setback to why I've waited so long to release this album). Naturally we all deal with the grieving process differently. I took to music to express what I was feeling. I missed talking to her the most, as I lived in NYC while she and Dad in NC. It was a tough pill to swallow losing her, as she's always been supportive of my endeavors but only recently in the past 10 years or so in NYC I started to see her show interest in things I was creating. Of all the random, crazy voicemails she'd leave me, I saved the last two. They are mixed into the song. Love you, Mom. Everyday, forever, and until the last breath I take.
lyrics
Mama
We used to fight when I was young
Stubborn, hard headed know it all
I thought I knew best
And Mama,
I said things I knew were bad
Hurt you I know
But now I know that you meant well
And I wish, you'd call me again
How I wish, we'd talk once more again
I talk about, everything, that I could to you
If I could, just hear your voice again
Many times you'd call and wake me up
6am, was it early enough?
I'd call you stumbling home from work
Now I'm stumbling to find my way
Sometimes I feel your hand in mine
Reassured I'm never left behind
If only for, the memory
And I wish, you'd call me again
How I wish, we'd talk once more again
I talk about, everything, that I could to you
If I could, just hear your voice again
Mama, there were days I'd rush you off
I was rushing into work
Let me take it back and take your call
I will keep your memory alive
And tell the world how you were mine
And how I know, you're always there
And I wish, you'd call me again
How I wish, we'd talk once more again
I talk about, everything, that I could to you
If I could, just hear your voice again
